Converting a Screenplay into a Novel in a Month

So, the novel I’m working on now is based on the screenplay called The Box which I also made into a micro budget movie about 20 years ago.

This picture is the book I made of the screenplay for my own library. I wrote over 30 screenplays before writing novels. And I wanted a simple way to store them on my bookshelves, so I turned them into book sized screenplays.

I have 4 weeks to turn this screenplay into a first draft novel. I’m certain I won’t keep the movie title, but I’m still figuring out what it will be called. Each of the colored tags at the top of the book are the sections that I have to write each week in order to be finished by the time Cold Storage comes back from my editor. The other colored tabs are related to the pages I have to write each day in that week in order to reach my weekly goal.

It’s a simple way of taking something that can seem like a large effort and breaking it into daily bite sizes. I’m making good progress for week one and I should be able to finish my weekly goal by the end of Saturday.
