Hollywood’s Misandry Bias

Misandry.

It’s a word dominating Hollywood decisions today.

Misandry is the hatred of men. It’s the opposite of misogyny, which is the hatred of women.

Men get called misogynists all the time today. So much so that it’s become relatively meaningless. But, we never hear about misandry, which is shocking, considering it’s so rampant.

Misandry is where terms like “toxic masculinity” come from. “Fighting the patriarchy.” It’s why recent studies have shown that the strength of handshakes by men has dropped to previous feminine levels while women’s handshakes have strengthened to the previous masculine levels. It’s why our world lacks healthy masculinity as a whole, leaving a void of male courage and leadership. Doesn’t mean women can’t be courageous or great leaders, but we are stronger as a society when both our sexes are strong, not one or the other.

So, why do I claim Hollywood has a misandry problem?

Look at their creative decisions… (and I’m not saying all these decisions are bad, but they fit into the overall trend).

In the Marvel Universe:

  • We have Hawkeye being replaced by a female version of him.
  • We have Thor’s presence being replaced by a woman.
  • We have Hulk’s presence being replaced by a woman.

In the Star Wars universe:

  • In the sequels, we have Leia elevated while Luke is diminished.
  • We have Kenobi, which was supposed to be about Obi-Wan saving Luke (because, duh, that’s obvious) being changed to him saving Leia. And every major decision in the series was decided by a female character instead of Obi-Wan, the supposed lead.

In the DC Universe:

  • Before being cancelled, Bat Woman was supposed to replace a dying Batman, played by Michael Keaton.
  • Supergirl was supposed to replace a dead Superman.

In the Lord of the Rings universe:

  • Amazon’s TV show shifts the focus from male heroes to female ones.

In the Star Trek universe:

  • In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Captain Pike has the same decisive weakness as Obi-Wan and nearly every major decision is decided by a female member of his crew.
  • In Star Trek: Discovery, Spock’s presence is replaced by a woman.

In the Doctor Who universe:

  • Dr. Who was replaced by a female version for the first time.

In Indiana Jones:

  • It’s reported that Indiana Jones will be replaced by a woman.

In James Bond:

  • In Daniel Craig’s last Bond film, the series set up a female replacement of 007, though who will play the role has not been decided.

In Ghost Busters:

  • They made a female version of it.

I get that women like female action heroes time and again. So do I, if they are well told, like Black Widow and Agent Carter. However, there is something greater going on here, otherwise the list above wouldn’t be so long and cross franchises made by different production companies. It can’t be by accident.

The common link is misandry.

Why do I claim misandry? Because, this trend makes little financial sense. Why remove so many major male role models when over 50% of your potential audience is men?

Because misandry is another tenet of Hollywood’s woke religion.

Despite culture war propaganda, the human species is very predictable. We have a limited amount of DNA and personality types. Human behavior repeats so frequently that we can even predict the life span of empires.

Human species predictability is why the Hallmark channels are popular with women, telling sweet and predictable romances. It’s the same reason why they haven’t expanded into female action thrillers.

It’s why men like action flicks and sports where guys beat each other up in one form or another. It’s why networks pay billions of dollars for NFL games that will advertise male dominated products in their commercials.

We should not be ashamed of our human nature. We should embrace healthy versions of it.

And we should fight back against misogyny, racism, sexism and, yes, misandry.

The culture needs healthy male heroes being masculine and Hollywood can be a great force of good in this effort.

But, it appears they won’t change course until it costs them too much money to do otherwise.

Why?

Because they’re misandrists.
