Throwback Thursday: When I was in high school, I was in the play Look Homeward, Angel. From that play, I learned the power of story and how they change people’s perceptions.
In the play, a family has a boarding house and an older woman boarder sleeps with the younger son of the house’s owner. I was the son (as seen in the pic).
The entire school watched our first performance and, the following day, a girl I had never met before came up to me all flustered and said, “I saw you in the play. You can wake up next to me anytime!”
I was flattered. And also too naive to understand what she meant. 🙂 I didn’t figure it out until I retold the story in college. But, I was immediately aware of how her perception of me had changed because of her consumption of that story.
